Vehicle Description This 1955 Fiat 1100 /103 Berlina Tipo B left the factory in Verde Chiaro and was first registered in Forli, Italy on 4thJanuary 1955.
The car remained registered in Forli and owned by the same family up until 2015 and who at some point modified it for hill climbs, with a replacement engine block, lowered suspension, aluminum drum brakes, sport exhaust, bumpers delete, driving lamps, as well as replacing the headlights and grille in the style of later models.
The original bill of sale and 'window sticker' accompany the car, along with the registration and service book.
The car was maintained by Piero Mannuzi (see windshield sticker and key fob) in Forli for several decades, confirmed by a letter from him explaining the modifications and ownership of the car.
There is no record of the car competing in events in Italy.
However, in 2015 the car was sold to a classic car dealership in Austria (shown in written correspondence) and from there to Germany, where it competed in the Classic Days rally that same year, and also at a Klassik Stadt event (photos included).
The car was featured in the 2016 September edition of Auto Bild Klassik magazine (copy included in the sale) where it states the power output is around 65hp (up from around 39hp).
The car remained unregistered in Germany until I acquired it in 2022 and imported it to the USA.
Maintenance in advance of shipping included a TUV inspection, as well as an oil and filter change, and the replacement of a brake line, coolant line, and fluids.
Work completed under my ownership includes replacement of the following:
Battery Dynamo (generator) Voltage regulator Fuel line Carburetor Fan belt Additional work includes diagnosing and correcting electrical gremlins, fuel gauge operation, brake adjustment, and inspection for oil leaks.
The bodywork is rust-free.
The paintwork is old, and shows signs of older refinishing, and is starting to crack in several places.
It shows the condition of the body and is up to the next owner to decide to preserve or repaint the car.
There is no evidence that I can see of any prior bodywork.
Firestone tires are fitted and have plenty of wear and appear to be fairly recent.
Inside, there are auxiliary gauges fitted for oil and coolant temperatures.
There is a single speaker located on the rear shelf, and a box underneath the dash that appears to be for a map light.
The seat fabric has been recovered at some point, with the original green fabric visible underneath.
Fiat 1100s produced up to 1957 were raced in the 1000 Miglia in period and therefore are eligible for the modern event, including the USA version, which this car is.
They were typically higher performing TV models, which if you search, are around 40k-70k Euros on the European market today, with cars that had 1000 Miglia race history commanding several times that.
This car is registered in Indiana with a clean title.
Import documents are included, together with a folder of documents with an original model brochure, original purchase and registration documents, owner's manual, spare wheel and jack, a gasket set, a fitted car cover, removed parts, including a Solex carburetor.
$35,000.
