Salary:

This position traditionally starts at an annual salary of $47,476. Salary for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience.

About the Job:

This position receives complaints and initiates the complaint investigation survey process for the Intermediate Care Facilities for Individual with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF-IID), Long Term Care (LTC), and Acute Care (AC) programs.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Receives complaint calls and returns messages timely which begins the investigative process of a complaint.
  • Evaluates and analyzes the complaint information received from the complainant either by phone, e-mail, fax, or written document in relation to federal and state rules and regulations.
  • Enters information received into the applicable computer systems in a timely manner.
  • Provide resource information and make appropriate recommendations to the complainant.
  • Reviews the complaints and determines priority following the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) regulations and State Rules when applicable.
  • E-mails timely the complaint and other appropriate documentation to the complaint surveyor and area supervisor.
  • Reviews incidents obtained through the Gateway to determine if they need referrals to the area supervisor, Life Safety Code (LSC), Registry, etc

What You'll Need for Success:

  • Licensed Registered Nurse in good standing with the State of Indiana.
  • Knowledge of principles of nursing practice and standards of care.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal regulations and state rules as they relate to the allegations in complaints.
  • Good communication skills including active listening and interview techniques.
  • Ability to be professional and maintain composure under stressful situations as it relates to disgruntled and emotional callers.
  • Commitment to the public health missions of protecting the health, safety, rights, and wellbeing of those in any acute or long term care setting.
  • Ability to utilize computer programs and office equipment necessary to the complaint process.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
