Responsibilities:
LRL IT serves as a strategic function within Lilly Research Laboratories (LRL). The LRL IT team defines and influences information and business strategies and designs and develops solutions to enable the realization of the LRL and LRL IT strategies. The role of the LRL IT Business Consultant is to provide technical leadership and strategic direction on critical activities in order to achieve business objectives. Key responsibilities include applying the LRL IT Strategy within LRL applications and processes, translating/ implementing technical design from business requirements, performing impact analyses across applications, managing expectations with business partners and software vendors for project deliverables, analyzing future project ideas and their estimated business value, consulting with testers and developers to creatively brainstorm and right-size effective solutions, and providing leadership for successful execution of large, complex projects.
This position combines the following roles from the IT Career Framework: Business Consultant, Architect, Technical Integrator, Software Engineer, and Program Manager.
Business Consultation:
Build effective relationships with business areas using business and systems analysis skills to determine key business needs and influence technology solutions specifically related to LRL business processes.
Evaluate proposed project ideas / software changes via impact analysis and estimated business value to influence decision making.
Document business requirements and effectively communicate them to software vendors, developers and testers.
Obtain and leverage deep knowledge of LRL business processes and technologies to ensure solutions across LRL meet the needs and to influence future application and business direction.
Influence the execution of LRL IT projects in collaboration with vendors, business partners, team and management.
Use standardized processes for requirements definition, analysis, design, construct, and test activities. Coordinate and lead implementation efforts of Solution Delivery initiatives
Ensure proper technical requirements have been appropriately defined for each project and are consistent with local and global requirements and best practices.
Ensure system testing methods are appropriate, coordinated and comprehensive to decrease probability of unexpected system issues or inability to optimize the systems use to maximize business benefit.
Own and drive succinct technical and business process focused communications with software vendors that are understandable and complete in order to achieve business and project objectives. Gain and leverage understanding and knowledge of how LRL IT strategies, platforms, and technologies enable business process execution.
Use business knowledge to appropriately challenge status quo and drive business and IT collaboration.
Leverage relationships outside of LRL IT to enable increased productivity and seek opportunities to reuse internal processes and
services
to streamline support and implementation of key systems. Analyze and communicate project status to multiple audiences, including all levels of management.
Technology integration and Solution Analysis
Execute technical work; perform and support programming, software integration, and data integration activities.
Grow utilization and expertise level in tools and processes supporting requirements management, code management, change management, and quality practices governing key work.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelors Degree
2-3 years of experience with software development life cycle, spanning the entire lifecycle from project initiation to deployment, support, and retirement
SQL experience with Requirements Management Familiarity with Software Quality Assurance methods and techniques
Knowledge and experience with current IT technologies

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
