PERSONNEL SECURITY SPECIALIST with Security Clearance

Dutieso Determines eligibility of persons to occupy sensitive positions based on security concerns related to suitability for employment based on application of Federal and Agency regulation, policy and practice related to personnel security and suitability.
o Determines adequacy of investigations and adjudications as they relate to position sensitivity and national security classified access requirements.
o Reviews and evaluates submitted documentation to initiate personnel security investigations and to determine completeness by applying security principles and pertinent guidelineso Institutes internal controls to protect personnel security case files from inadvertent disclosure.
o Evaluates derogatory subject information and recommends or determines whether security clearances should be granted, suspended, revoked, denied or the investigation should be expanded.
o Consults with operating officials both internal and external to the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS), providing well thought out answers to issues concerning personnel security and suitability programsRequirements Conditions of Employmento Must be a U.

o Obtain/Maintain DoD Security Accreditation and Certification Qualifications One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that ofthe next lower grade (GS-09) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is requiredSpecialized Experience is defined as applying Personnel Security regulations, policy, and procedures in the review and recommendation of security clearance adjudications or suitability determinations; analyzing information from multiple sources and databases in support of security and suitability recommendations; determining eligibility for access to classified or sensitive information; responding to questions and inquiries from customers regarding personnel security and suitability regulations and procedures; processing personnel security requests for investigationTime-in-Grade:
