Connecting victims and survivors with support, while being a direct resource to Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD,) domestic violence agencies, and the community.
Duties and Responsibilities Be familiar with the organizations that provide domestic violence services.
You will be responsible for giving those resources as you connect with the victims, survivors, agencies, and communities.
Respond to all calls as they are assigned.
Complete two (2) ride-along with IMPD to better understand how they respond to domestic violence calls for service.
Be in contact with all victim/survivor serving agencies often as it is your responsibility to know what assistance is available to your clients.
Input all information accurately and promptly (within 24 hours) into the champion's system for data collection and reporting.
If a domestic violence related shooting or extreme domestic violence related crime scene has occurred within the service area, you will contact your direct supervisor immediately for next steps.
This may include assisting IMPD Victim's Advocates to identify and contact the shooting victim's friends and relatives to provide support and resources.
Provide information to victim(s) or anyone needing information regarding domestic violence, using trained advocacy skills to address safety risks and safety plans for victims to get/stay away from abuser.
Participate in street outreach activities/events and provide information to project partners.
Attend protective order court with survivors.
Any additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications Qualifications include:
Education - Highschool Diploma and three (3) years of relevant life or work experience with domestic violence Domestic violence survivor (direct or indirect) preferred Knowledge of the City of Indianapolis communities Valid driver's license and active insurance Familiarity of local government operations, business/community leadership and public safety agencies Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other operational information systems Self-motivated and driven Ability to multi-task and manage competing responsibilities and timelines Understanding of various constituencies that affect an organization's work (i.
e.
agency Chief's, Mayor's Office, City Council, etc.
) Working Conditions While most work can be completed in regular business hours (8 am to 5 pm), the position does require evening and weekend work and a flexible work schedule.
Physical Requirements Candidates should be able to stand for long periods of time (i.
e.
events) and lift at least 25 pounds.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
