Responsibilities
This position is for a trainee-level maintenance mechanic. The training for the position will be approximately two years in duration. At the end of the training period, and successfully meeting the training requirements, the individual will be eligible to apply for a permanent position.
The focus of this position is to provide general maintenance support for production and utilities. By the end of the training period, the trainee must demonstrate knowledge, skills and the ability to troubleshoot and repair process and utility equipment for the manufacturing sites. In addition, the trainee must demonstrate the ability to perform basic operation of lathes, mill, and grinders to repair or fabricate parts.
Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
Must be able to work in a controlled environment, including wearing gowning, personal protective equipment (safety shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses).
Must be able to pass a post-offer physical exam.
Must be able to read, speak and write English at a sufficient level to communicate technical and business information effectively.
Must be able to work all shifts, including weekends.
Overtime may be required during shutdowns, emergency situations or periods of heavy workloads.
Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employedd in the United States. Eli Lilly and Co. does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B status) for this employment position.
Additional Skills/Preferences
Prefer a certificate, diploma or degree from a technical school, junior college or college program.
Military training and experience in equipment or machine maintenance, or a related field, may be an acceptable alternative for a certificate or diploma.
Previous maintenance experience in the chemical, petrochemical or pharmaceutical industry may be an acceptable alternative for a certificate or diploma.
Additional Information
Physical considerations include the ability to work with or around equipment, climb ladders and stairs, and use PPE (personal protective equipment).
He / she may be exposed to harsh weather conditions as part of the job.
This position is not permanent. It is for a fixed duration for up to 4 years.
