Responsibilities:
As part of the US Advanced Analytics organization this research scientist will support the analysis of sales and marketing data by selecting and in some cases implementing the right methodologies and approaches that may help answer the business questions at hand. This role will report into the leader of Business Analytics within Global Statistical Sciences/Advanced Analytics.
This opening is for an experienced researcher in statistics, applied mathematics, operations research, or other related areas with an emphasis on data mining and modeling. We are especially interested in persons with expertise in developing business analytic models. Successful candidates are expected to work with multi-disciplinary teams to solve challenging problems of importance to commercialization. They will also conduct innovative research if necessary to solve business problems.
The job tasks listed below outline the scope of the position. The application of these tasks may vary, based upon current business needs.
To employ modeling techniques and generate tools to answer business questions especially to support promotion response modeling; marketing mix optimization; resource allocation across diverse personal promotional channels; and segmentation.
To be fully grounded in Lillys sales operations data sources and able to respond to data requests from business partners
To effectively lead or be fully engaged in cross-functional or multi-disciplinary groups and use technical expertise to influence business decisions through statistical/mathematical analysis and interpretation
To work closely with business partners to understand key business decisions and the information they require in order to make those decisions
To identify existing resources that answer teams business questions without the need for acquiring new data
To oversee technical methods done by vendors
To influence strategic priorities and resource allocation during the business planning process
To perform research and develop methodologies, especially in business analytics/data mining and other innovative statistical/mathematical approaches to solve business problems if necessary
To stay current with respect to statistical/mathematical/informatics modeling methodology, to maintain proficiency in applying new and varied methods, and to be competent in justifying methods selected
To participate in peer-review work products and advise others on technical matters
To use his/her business acumen in sales and marketing to assist in defining business analytics projects that may improve efficiency in our business
To perform work in full compliance with assigned curriculum(s) and to follow applicable corporate, medical, local, and departmental policies, procedures, processes, and training
Basic Qualifications
MS with 9
years of experience or PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, Econometrics, Operations research or Informatics
Deep and broad knowledge of data mining methods and tools able to reduce problem to mathematical/statistical questions/hypotheses that can be answered through analytics and data mining.
Proficiency with analytic tools (SAS, JMP, R etc.). Interpersonal communication skills for effective customer consultation Teamwork and leadership skills.
Strong learning agility
Self-management skills with a focus on results for timely and accurate completion of competing deliverables.
Insatiable curiosity for understanding existing information sources, uncovering new ones, and developing and improving on analysis approaches
Demonstrated problem solving ability and strategic thinking. Positive and professional approach. Detail oriented. Ability to do prioritization across multiple projects.
Additional Skills/Preferences:
Preferred experience in marketing and sales analytics
5 or more years of experience in analytics

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
